VR Capstone Project
Individual Project, Original Game Design, Art, Level Design, Sound Design, Story Writing.
Software Used: Unreal Engine 5, Maya, Substance Painter, Substance 3D Sampler, Photoshop, Adobe Audition.
This Capstone Project is the final game I created as part of my Video Game Art & Design Diploma. For my project, I chose to create an interactive VR experience in the form of a detective game. You play as a detective investigating the homicide of Avery Lin, a freelance graphic designer. However, the only catch is that you must solve the crime using only the clues in the apartment.
Apartment Level created in Unreal Engine 5. All 3D models were created in Maya, and all textures were created in Substance Painter. The floor body decal was created in Photoshop.

For this project, I was required to submit a project proposal, which outlined my vision for the project along with my inspirations and an estimated project timeline. This proposal included:
- a general description of the project
- examples of project inspirations
- essential components for an MVP
- rough concept art, an estimated project timeline
- and a "wish list" of features that could be implemented should I find extra time before the submission.
The following video clip shows the project proposal submitted before development.

Refined Level Design Concept
Rough Crime Scene Concept
The early concept art for the proposal (Left, Right) was drawn by hand. The refined level design map was drawn using Adobe Photoshop using the hand-drawn image as a reference.
